I'm trying to find a recording of the soundtrack from the film, "The Gallant Hours," where the chorale sung all of the choral arrangements. In particular, I'm also interested in obtaining a copy of the lyrics to the theme from "The Gallant Hours." Any guidance or help would be greatly appreciated. Samuel H. Dupree, Jr. <sdupree@speakeasy.net> Philadelphia, PA USA - Thursday, January 15, 2004 at 21:41:32 (EST) I loved the sound of the Roger Wagner Chorale from the first moment I heard the old LP album, "Virtuoso", sometime in 1961, while living in Tulsa. Later I added twelve RWC (Roger Wagner Chorale) LP's to my large collection. I loved the sound of The Robert Shaw Chorale and they just might have been more accurate musically but, the sound of RWC was always fresh, new and so very perfect. In 1974, I heard the Concert Choir from either the University of Iowa (or Iowa State University) while they were on tour in our area. I have heard lots of choirs and recordings of so many more. The sound and presence of this particular choir was so close to that of the RWC. over the years, others have come so close, but this choir was perfect. I don't recall the name of the Conductor. The RWC will always remain my Ideal. Thanks for your Website/Richard Pullen Richard Pullen <txgmajor@pullenfamily.net> Tx USA - Thursday, January 15, 2004 at 05:30:35 (EST)
I HAVE SEVERAL VINYL RECORDINGS OF ROGER WAGNER, AND I WAS HOPING TO PURCHASE SOME CD'S OF HIS. UNFORTUNATELY, THE RECORD STORE ONLY SHOWED TWO OF HIS XMAS CD'S CURRENTLY AVAILABLE. I ESPECIALLY ENJOYED HIS WORKS WITH THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL AND CAPITOL SYMPHONY ORCHESTRAS. DO YOU KNOW IF HIS RECORDINGS ARE AVAILABLE ANYWHERE?
i've just listened to "holy holy holy" --the lp sp8498--bought at a car boot sale for 50p----cleaned it up and am simply enchanted[despite the residual deterioration coming thro] at the gorgeous versions of the holy city but most of all the final chorale from the st john passion--i sang this in 71 with the glasgow schools choir and used it as my test piece for entrance to the the gloucester choral society- NOTHING---ever recorded comes close to capturing the full emotional ambience as this recording--all the singers deserve to sprout wings and go straight to heaven.
big thank you

Had the priviledge of seeing the RWC on April 8th @ Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, without a doubt, the best show I've ever been to. Please don't stay away so long the next time.
Harve Presnell, anyone know if he has a CD out? If so,name? label? Thanks
If you have everything, gloat. When that gets boring, start your own line of perfumes. -Dilbert

I'm trying to buy the cd "The Negro

information where I can find it?
I grew up with that recording and

I wish to purchase the album "A Christmas Festival"- Angel. Do you have it available on vinyl, tape, or CD? It is truly a masterpiece in choral music.
Finding this Web site and others detailing the history of the RWC allows me to capture a piece of my family history as well. I couldn't be more proud to have known that my grandmother, Phyllis Rossiter (previously Wilkins) was a member of such a fine group, and I believe the original. From what she tells me, the years spent with the group were the best of her life. Since childhood, the unforgettable voices of the RWC have been the heart of every Christmas. At 25 now, I still cannot hear O'Holy Night without my heart swelling. Thank you for generations of pleasure.
Hello all RWC fans and fellow RWC singers! Just found this web site while looking for copies of RWC CD's on the internet. What a great site! Beautiful picture of Jeannine! Appreciate the info on both Roger and Jeannine and the interview with Roger. The picture of the chorale on the homepage is especially nice, (I notice I'm in it!) We (RWC) just returned from another Japan Tour (October 2002) and looking forward to another in 2004. I'm collecting memories/stories of the chorale for a memoir-type book. If you have any, please e-mail them to me. So...where are the CD's? Dick? Jeannine? Somebody?! Love and God bless. GG
Please, I'm trying to buy the cd "The Negro Spiritual"
Could you send me some information where I can find it?
Thanks a lot.
There can be no question that the chorale's recording of Ralph Vauhgn Williams' Mass in G-minor is the finest recording of that piece on the planet. I have an old copy on an Angel LP but am looking for another as mine has developed artifacts and scratches. Does anyone have an archival copy of this that I could borrow and convert to a CD?
I was lucky enough to obtain a video of one of the concerts in Japan. Great concert. Will any recordings be available soon?
I sang in a chorale in college and loved listening to any recordings with the Roger Wagner Chorale. I'm trying to find the album that has the Chorale singing George Antheil's "Fragments from Shelley". I think it's beautiful. I'd love to buy the album or CD that includes it. Can anyone help?
I would like to buy a copy of the recording of the "Ecos from a Sixteen Century Cathedral". Thanks, BP
Put your catalog with disc # for ordering. Also, link your listing to the contents of each disc.
Make note that ANY recordings can be special ordered one-off on CD.
Mention new recordings about to be released, and when.
could you list past members of the chorale?
Looking for good recording of Folk Songs of the Frontier
capitol P8324.. CD prefered I have worn out LP purchased

singer of choral music for 50 years, I have been
wondering about the status of the Roger Wagner Chorale,
and I am so pleased to find this website. I believe we
have nearly every LP that was made of the Chorale and a
few CDs. What a treat to know that the RWC is still
performing. I have been singing with The Dudley Birder
Chorale of St. Norbert College since the late 70s. Dudley
Birder studied with Roger Wagner and sang with The Roger
Wagner Master Chorale. He has retired as Professor of
Choral Music at St. Norbert College, but still conducts
his chorale of 150 members from all walks of life from
several cities and towns throughout N.E. Wisconsin. I
will tell him of this website when I see him at our next
rehearsal on Wednesday night. Thanks for carrying on this
great choral tradition. Are you doing any bookings in the
midwest? I have been trying to
buy some cds . But it is very hard to find on the net.
Can you tell me where can I get those from Korea? (where
is available in internet shopping) The Negro Spiritual
(Toshiba) Memorial Best Albums (Toshiba) I have been an avid
fan of the Roger Wagner Chorale ever since my high school
days in 1950 when I sang in an acapella choir. I wish
your father was still alive, I would have loved to meet
him some day. I always thought the Chorale had the most
beautiful sound of any choral group performing then and
probably still today. look forward to
providing many new recording to the fans I just sent an email
re:"Folk Songs of the West". I am looking for a
cassette and or CD of this wonderful album. Thank you,
Irwin Probstein irwin@midplains.net Need any bass
singers? I have been
enthralled with the music of Roger Wagner since I first
heard Joy to the World. When are you coming to
Indianapolis? I sent an e-mail
asking about a tape of the album - Echoes from a 16th
Century Cathedral - I hope it is available. I am interested in
obtaining cd's (or tapes) of some of your listed
recordings, but need advice as to where they might be
obtained. Please advise. roger I'm interested in
obtaining available recordings of RWC, preferably on cd,
but tape is OK. Any advice? MVBGen@aol.com roger Thank you for a
wonderful Website. In the State of Queensland, RWC vinyl
records were used to teach Australain children sea
shanties and Stephen Foster songs. My enduring and
warmest memory is of hearing "O Holy Night" for
the very first time. It was sung by the RWC with Harve
Presnell ("Fargo" "Annie"
"Unsinkable Molly Brown" etc) as soloist. It
may have been one of Capitol Records first stereo
efforts. I am also a fan of Gordon MacRae and the Chorale
"backed" him in his 63-64 operetta series ----
it would have been a sad experience as his voice had
deteriorated badly. I hope to gather CD versions of all
the Christmas (Capitol efforts) one day I've been a great fan
of the RWC for many years. It's a great American
tradition. I would like to see you reprint your recording
of D. Pinkham's "Christmas Cantata" on CD. My
LP recording is getting a little scratchy at last. Have
you ever considered doing a tribute to one of the great
American choral composers, Lloyd Pfautsch. This is one of
the few truly American groups that could give him the
credit he deserves. Thanks for providing me with lots of
enjoyment over the years! thanks for putting up
the site-I'll be looking forward to your next concert How/where can I
obtain the CDs of the recordings listed here? I'd
appreciate any leads. Great web site. Would
like to see more pictures of RWC. Are copies of the out
of print recordings available through your organization? Dick, I assume this
is your work. It's really great. Now I can keep up with
Jeannine - she's always too busy to write. I hope I can
get her CD. I think this is a great tribute to your dad -
the DA! - who could forget him. WOW... How would I
have missed this for so long... Thank-you Dick Wagner,
for making me aware of this wonderful and talented
family... Jan Buckingham Hi, good people. Nice website, ALL
